In the middle of Tromøy, Alvekilen cuts into the island from the south. At the end of this inlet lies Sandaa Farm. Here, we have 8 cabins and a beach house available for rent. Some are located right by the water’s edge, while others are just a few hundred meters from the sea, all set in scenic surroundings with stunning views of the rocky coastline and ocean.
Maren warmly welcomes guests and is responsible for all follow-ups, bookings, boat rentals, cleaning, and maintenance. Otto assists with maintenance, lawn mowing, and is always ready to lend a hand with a smile when needed.
Maren inherited her passion for running the cabins from her parents, who built the first rental cabin back in 1963.
Life on a farm comes with a variety of tasks, which makes us versatile. And our home office? It might just be one of the finest! It’s a great privilege for us.
Christian manages the sauna, barn, weddings, and forestry. Like Otto, he also helps with most activities happening here on the farm.
Since the generational shift in 2011, Maren and Otto have refurbished the cabins to make them bright and inviting.
A Warm Welcome Awaits You! Whether you prefer to be active or simply relax and listen to the waves, smell the sea, hear the birds’ beautiful songs, and enjoy the lush flora, Sandaa is the perfect retreat. You might even meet the resident deer or spot a sea trout jumping.
We look forward to welcoming you!
Arendal is sheltered from the sea by two large islands, Hisøy and Tromøy. While Hisøy is densely populated, Tromøy is a sprawling island characterized by scattered small houses, cabins, vast forests, and historic cultural landscapes.
The part of Tromøy facing the Skagerrak is part of Raet National Park – a moraine ridge left behind by the retreating ice at the end of the Ice Age.
In this particularly fertile agricultural land lies Sandaa Farm – one of Tromøy’s oldest farms. People have lived here since the Bronze Age. On the low moraine island of Tromlingene, which stretches along parts of southern Tromøy, there are clear historical traces of the first Norwegians.
Sandaa is the place for those who appreciate the natural surroundings of the cabins, enjoy lazy summer evenings in peaceful settings, and know how to "let life flow gently."
Southern Norway, often called “Norway’s summer paradise,” offers everything from tranquil relaxation to vibrant festivals. Sandaa’s cabins are perfectly situated to let you enjoy the best of both worlds – serene natural beauty or lively city events.
Located close to festival areas and city life, Sandaa remains, above all, a fantastic place to unwind – for a few days or as often as you’d like. The region’s abundance of sunny days makes it a delightful spot even in spring and autumn.
